"Star Wars" Super-Fan Takes Best Photo Ever Of Carrie Fisher And Mark Hamill

This weekend was Star Wars Celebration at the Anaheim Convention Center, where thousand of fans got to celebrate their love of the greatest movie franchise of all time. (Okay, so maybe we're not impartial.)

With The Force Awakens on the horizon, and the film's second trailer debuting at opening day, excitement levels at SWC were out of this world.

But for our money, the greatest thing to come out of the four-day convention was this photo, shot by San Francisco's Dave McKew.

A veteran of five previous Star Wars Celebrations, Dave bought the opportunity for a photo op with Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill—a.k.a. the Skywalker Twins.

"I pre-ordered it a few weeks ago and 'I thought, 'I just bought a $195 photo— what can I do to get my $195 worth?,'" he told NewNowNext. "So I bought three sets of Leia buns on Amazon and brought them to Anaheim."

As he waited nearly 90 minutes in line for his photo op, Dave began to worry the two actors would balk at wearing the buns. He was also worried about having to check his bag— so he put on one pair buns himself and snuck the other two in his hands, hoping the handlers wouldn't notice.

"When I was two people away, Carrie saw me wearing them and said "I love this guy!"—when I got to her I said "Glad you like it because I brought one for everyone. Carrie said 'YES!' and grabbed one, so Mark was in immediately."

Not surprisingly, there's a significant LGBT contingent within the Star Wars fan community. When we chatted with Dave he was on his way to a Gay Star Wars Speed Dating event. Well, now he has the perfect ice-breaker story.
