Study: Straight Men More Interested In Gay Sex After Drinking

We hope they didn't spend too much on this study.

Straight men are more attracted to other men if they're drunk, says a new study.

The research, published in The Journal of Social Psychology, found that heterosexual people are more likely to find members of the same sex attractive after consuming alcohol.

To support this claim, researchers conducted a field study of sorts outside of bars in the Midwestern United States. They approached 83 adults, determined how much alcohol they'd had via a breathalyzer test and then showed them video clips of people of different genders drinking at a bar.

After they were shown the clips, each person was asked a series of questions about the people in the video, ranging from whether they would buy them a drink to whether they'd have sex with them.

Results show that alcohol intake made both men and women more open about their desire to sleep with an opposite sex partner, but that men in particular also expressed an increased interest in sleeping with members of the same sex.

The more drunk the male participants were, the more likely they were to be interested in the men shown in the videos. According to the study, men who had more than ten alcoholic drinks were just as interested in the men depicted as they were in the women.

Recent research found that American adults are not only becoming more accepting of same-sex behavior, but are also more open to same-sex experimentation.

"What we’re seeing is a movement toward more sexual freedom," said study author Jean Twenge. "There’s more freedom for people to do what they want without following the traditional, often now seen as outdated, social rules about who you’re supposed to have sex with and when."

"Overall, it suggests that our sexuality has become much more free and open, that Americans feel much more freedom to express themselves sexually in a way that they see fit."
