Powerhouse comedy duo and couple Cameron Esposito and Rhea Butcher have announced their split via social media.

Both comedians, who tied the knot in 2015, took to Twitter to share a joint message that they are "are separating for a time": "We care very much about each other & that’s why we’re doing this... Thanks for your kindness and understanding."

Esposito and Butcher are known for their creative collaborations, including the semi-autobiographical TV series Take My Wife and the comedy show-slash-podcast Put Your Hands Together. (It's unclear how their split will affect the future of both projects.)

Esposito also released her latest comedy special, Rape Jokes, in June and is slated to go on a comedy tour this fall.
