Disney Pushing Fairy Tale Wedding Package to Same-Sex Couples
The happiest place on Earth is also shaping up to be the gayest.
Disney's official Instagram shared a post this week featuring two men getting married at Orlando's Walt Disney World resort to promote its Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons program, a vacation package that includes a special ceremony with Disney characters and photos in front of Cinderella's castle.
Similar images of same-sex couples are also prominently featured on Disney's official wedding website.
Comments on the majestic Instagram post, captioned "So this is love," have been largely positive.
The gay post follows Disney's increasing public push for inclusion of the LGBTQ community.
Last year, after Disney parks unveiled official limited-edition Mickey Mouse Pride ears, the legacy brand debuted a full Pride apparel collection.
While Gay Days events have been unofficially held in Disney's theme parks for years, Disney recently announced that it will hold its first official Pride celebration June 1 at Disneyland Paris.
“Diversity and equality are strong values at Disneyland Paris, and each year, we host millions of visitors regardless of their origins, gender or sexual orientation,” said a Disney representative in a statement. “We are committed to fostering a welcoming environment for all of our Guests where magic is for everyone.”
The upcoming live-action adaptation of Jungle Cruise made headlines last year when it was announced that the film would feature Disney’s first openly gay character, played by Jack Whitehall.
Disney Channel’s current hit series Andi Mack features the network's first character to come out as gay.
