A "crowd" of about 36 people attended an ex-gay march in D.C. this weekend—including a survivor of the Pulse massacre who claims he is no longer gay.

Voice of the Voiceless, which claims to "defend the rights of former homosexuals, individuals with unwanted same-sex attraction, and their families" co-sponsored the rally with Jeffrey McCall, a former transgender-rights activist. “I was living as a female,” McCall told the dozens of attendees. "I had wanted to kill myself. I was spiritually bankrupt—I was destitute."

Pulse survivor Luis Javier Ruiz, who now insists he is no longer gay, also attended. Of the June 2016 massacre, which claimed the lives of 49 people, Ruiz says he "should have been number 50."

The march, which ended on the National Mall, also included Activist Mommy blogger Elizabeth Johnston, who said she considers herself an ally to "one of the most marginalized and censored groups in our culture... the ex-homosexual."

"I believe those who believe homosexuality is a sin against God also have the right under God and under our First Amendment to speak our beliefs,” she told demonstrators. "That is tolerance."
