A queer contestant rendered Family Feud host Steve Harvey speechless with his fabulous answer to a heteronormative question.
Harvey asked Boone from the Makings family a question asked of 100 married men, prompting him to inquire if Boone was married. When he answered in the negative, Harvey asked if he was dating anyone, to which the contestant shared that he was indeed seeing someone.
“She looking pretty good?” Harvey asked.
“He’s looking pretty good,” Boone corrected, prompting cheers from his family and the audience—and a stunned look and nodding head from Harvey.
“I can still answer, though,” Boone noted as the applause died down and there was still no word from the show’s host.
“Yeah, there ain’t no problem,” Harvey said, recovering. “Yeah, threw me, but I’m here.”
The family went on to win $20,000.
Harvey recently told Entertainment Tonight that he would have no interest in taking over the Oscars hosting gig after Kevin Hart walked away from the job in response to controversy over old homophobic tweets and jokes.
“Oh no, I can’t host the Oscars,” he said. “Hell, if they won’t let Kevin Hart host the Oscars, how the hell are they going to let me host the Oscars? I don’t want to host the Oscars because I don’t want them digging up my past.”
It’s no wonder.
Harvey has said “real men” are straight, and made disparaging comments about Caitlyn Jenner after she announced she was trans, saying he couldn’t wrap his head around it, while misgendering her, as did the red carpet interviewer.
He did, however, also say he didn’t understand how anyone could abandoned their child for being queer when Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy appeared on an episode of Celebrity Family Feud and revealed he was playing for the Happy Hippie Foundation, a non-profit started by Miley Cyrus to combat youth homelessness, with a particular emphasis on LGBTQ youth.
