Issa Rae Is Making An HBO Comedy About The Love Life Of A Bisexual Black Man

The series was created by Travon Free, an openly bisexual writer for "Full Frontal with Samantha Bee."

Issa Rae, the co-creator and star of HBO's Insecure, is teaming up with the network again on a new comedy about the romantic struggles of a bisexual black man.

The single-camera comedy, Him or Her, was created by former Daily Show writer Travon Free and will be based on his own dating experiences as a bisexual.

“I was immediately drawn in to the concept from his initial pitch and am so grateful that he’s trusting us with his vision,” Rae told HuffPost about partnering with Free on the project.

Rae will serve as the executive producer on the series, which will explore the “the distinctly different worlds and relationships he finds himself in,” according to Deadline.

She added that she wanted to start a conversation about including bisexuality within the concept of black masculinity, something she says she talks about with her friends.

In addition to producing Him or Her and shooting the third season of Insecure, Rae will also executive produce the upcoming HBO drama Sweet Life, which tells the story of rich teenagers growing up in the elite black community of Windsor Hills in Los Angeles.
