"Old Town Road" Now the Longest-Running No. 1 Hit in "Billboard" Hot 100 History

This is "One Sweet Day" for Lil Nas X.

Mariah Carey should be expecting some roses today.

Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" featuring Billy Ray Cyrus has officially broken the record for longest-running No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with 17 weeks at the top spot. The country-rap crossover sensation finally beat Mariah Carey and Boys II Men's collaboration “One Sweet Day,” which has held the record with 16 weeks in the top slot since 1995-96.

“Instead of doing my usual crying in the bathtub for five hours, I’ll cut it down to three,” Lil Nas X joked when asked by a TMZ interviewer how he’d mark the occasion if his single made Billboard history.

Pressed if that were really all he would do, the rapper came up with another idea: “I may buy Mariah Carey some roses and send them to her, 'cause I love her.”

Lil Nas X came out as gay earlier this summer, posting the announcement on social media.

“Some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not gone [fuck with me] no more,” the rapper wrote, including an animated music video for his single “C7osure (You Like),” which dropped at the end of June.

There have been multiple "Old Town Road" remixes; the latest one, featuring RM from BTS, is titled the "Seoul Town Road Remix." We're still holding our breath for that Dolly Parton collab, though.

Congrats, Lil Nas X!
