Lizzy Caplan & Michael Sheen Master Sex In Pilot

Michael Sheen is renowned in his native Britain for his portrayals of real-life figures Tony Blair and David Frost. On this side of the pond; however, Sheen is perhaps most well-known for his 4-episode arc on 30 Rock in which he played Wesley Snipes, Liz Lemon's potential husband for whom she would have to begrudgingly settle. Lizzy Caplan was Janis Ian (the character who deemed her best friend 'too gay to function") in Mean Girls and starred as sardonic cater-waiter Casey Klein on cult fave Party Down. Since then, she's picked up bit parts on some of our favorite sitcoms and even had a stint on True Blood.

Why do we bring all of this up? Because Showtime has just made the (we're hoping) brilliant decision to cast Sheen and Caplan as real-life couple William Masters and Virginia Johnson, whose research helped start the sexual revolution in the 1960s, in a pilot. The show, naturally, will be called Masters of Sex because who doesn't love a punny title that alludes to sex (hopefully that'll bring some extra eyeballs)? Shooting for the pilot is set to begin in March, and we're seriously hoping Showtime picks this one up -- as long as it doesn't interfere with Caplan's involvement in the Party Down film.
