Maxine Waters is already an icon, a hero for these turbulent political times. She has been the subject of memes, gifs and even made appearance at L.A.'s Resist March. Now the state representative from California is responsible for your new power anthem, "Reclaiming My Time."

Last week, Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin sat before the House Financial Services Committee on the State of the International Financial System. Since Waters is a ranking member on the committee, she was the first to question Mnuchin.

When he tried to change the subject instead of providing answers, Waters repeated "reclaiming my time" over and over again to get him to answer her simple question.

Now, musician and singer Mykal Kilgore has recorded a gospel song using Waters' instantly classic line, and we hope you're wearing your Sunday best because this rendition is your new soul-affirming power anthem.

In the description of the video Kilgore wrote:

The cover went viral and Kilgore, who is based New York and was last seen in Motown: The Musical on Broadway, was even featured on The View this morning, prompting moderator Whoopi Goldberg to say: "You don't want to mess with Maxine."

Now a spirited gospel cover would normally be enough, but "Reclaiming My Time" has also been transformed into a club banger thanks to producer Adam Joseph. If his name sounds familiar it is becasuse he was responsible for the "Linda Evangelista" dance remix of Aja's Valentina read on Untucked.
