Miley Cyrus Launches New Homeless LGBT Charity, Says Not All Past Relationships Have Been Heterosexual

Miley Cyrus, the self-proclaimed stoner girl who once twerked up on Alan Thicke's son, has a sensitive, more philanthropic side.

The 22-year-old singer has just launched the Happy Hippie Foundation, a group dedicated to fighting injustices faced by homeless youth, LGBT youth and other vulnerable populations.

“The position I’m in, I feel like I’ve got a lot of power,” she said in an interview with The Associated Press. “But so many kids don’t feel that way. They’re under their parents’ rule. When you have all eyes on you, what are you saying? And that’s what I had to ask myself a lot. It’s like, I know you’re going to look at me more if my (breasts) are out, so look at me. And then I’m going to tell you about my foundation for an hour and totally hustle you.”

Cyrus also revealed that not all of her past relationships were "straight, heterosexual" ones, but provided no more details.

To help promote the cause and raise funds, Cyrus has teamed with Facebook for the Backyard Sessions, pairing Cyrus with a fellow artist and placing them in her backyard for a jam sesh.

Up first is Joan Jett with Ariana Grande, Against Me!'s Laura Grace Jones and Melanie Safka among the artists who will collaborate with Cyrus down the line. Each video will debut exclusively on Facebook with an option to donate toward the Happy Hippie Foundation.

"I think what Miley's doing is wonderful and important to help people find their authentic selves," Jett tells Rolling Stone of the Happy Hippie Foundation. "I'm proud to be a part of it."
