Miley Cyrus Teases Disco Comeback Single "Midnight Sky"

Dua Lipa has heard it!

Miley Cyrus is starting all over, for real this time.

This Wednesday, August 5, the pansexual singer-songwriter and Hannah Montana alum uploaded a video to Twitter of her jamming out to a new song, "Midnight Sky," complete with sparkly filters, mood lighting, and some of Cyrus's best futch realness. "TEASE," she coyly captioned the vid.

British pop queen Jessie Ware said it best: Disco is the sound du jour. Judging by the cheeky teaser, Cyrus (along with Lady Gaga, and Kylie Minogue, and Dua Lipa) seems to have gotten the memo.

The singer followed up the first look with another cryptically captioned photo featuring none other than Dua Lipa. "Dua has heard what you haven't," she wrote.

According to Billboard, the snippet marks the first look at Cyrus's long-awaited new album, She Is Miley Cyrus. The forthcoming record is her seventh studio album and her first full-length release since 2017's Younger Now.

The "Slide Away" singer prefaced the sneak peek with a clip from a classic Miley bop: "Start All Over," a single from her debut solo studio album, which was released in 2008.

"Meet Miley Cyrus...again," she tweeted Tuesday. "#SheIsComing. #ButForRealThisTime."

As NewNowNext previously reported, Cyrus has had to assert her validity as a queer woman time and time again, especially prior to her split from ex-fiancé Chris Hemsworth. "I’m in a hetero relationship, but I still am very sexually attracted to women," she told Elle magazine in 2019. Between dropping bops and being made to defend her queerness, Cyrus made a guest appearance on Season 11 of RuPaul's Drag Race—in full drag, of course. She's just being Miley!
