Vladimir Putin and the ruling Russian political party unveiled an anti-gay "heterosexual flag" designed to "honor traditional family values" in Moscow today to coincide with the country's annual Day of Family, Love and Fidelity holiday.

The blue flag features a mother and father holding hands with three children above the hashtagged caption "A Real Family."

The Moscow Times notes the flag's inception is directly related to the Supreme Court's historic ruling in favor of same-sex marriage last week and the collection of notable American monuments that were lit up in rainbow colors that night as a result.

"This is our response to same-sex marriage, to this mockery of the concept of the family. We have to warn against gay-fever at home and support traditional values in our country," said Andrei Lisovenko, deputy head of the United Russia branch in Moscow.

Being LGBT in Russia is not explicitly against the law but the country's horrifically homophobic ban on "gay propaganda" has essentially outlawed any expression of being LGBT.
