All Five Spice Girls Are Reuniting For A New Album And TV Special

"They are all on board."

It turns out if you are a Spice Girl friendship never really ends.

According to The Sun and The Daily Mail, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Mel B, Melanie C and Victoria Beckham have all been "locked in secret talks since the summer, and finally they are all on-board for a 2018 reunion" which will consist of a television special and a new compilation album.

“As it stands, they will be working together on a series of projects, which will include an album and a TV special celebrating the Spice Girls," a source told The Sun. "And getting Victoria to agree has been a coup for everyone involved, given she has always been the person holding back on a reunion."

This is far from the first Spice Girls reunion since they announced their permanent hiatus in 2000. In 2007 the girl group returned with a new Greatest Hits compilation featuring two new songs, followed by a reunion tour.

Since then getting the five Spices together in the same room has been hard, and it usually only happens for special occasions like the opening night of Viva Forever! the Spice Girls musical, or the opening ceremonies for the 2012 Summer Olympics.

In 2016 a source told The Sun that despite contentious issues between some of the girls and Mel B’s constantly-thwarted plans to reunite the band for the 20th anniversary of “Wannabe” that year, Mel B, Halliwell, and Bunton have gone ahead and booked a date for a reunion gig in July 2017.

The concert never happened, but some of the Spice Girls were determined to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the group's breakout hit single "Wannabe." Ginger, Baby and Scary Spice announced GEM, a new version of the group without Beckham or Mel C. GEM ultimately lost steam after Halliwell became pregnant, but a track, "Song For Her" they recorded did end up leaking online.

Next year is the 20th anniversary of the Spice World movie, and we can't think of a better reason for the girls to get back together for another epic reunion.
