The Anti-Gay Bigots Are Going To Lose Their Sh*t Over This New Tide Commercial

The detergent company spoofs Kim Davis with a progressive new ad

A new commercial for Tide To Go is tackling the marriage equality debate head on: In it, a gay couple in tuxes walk up to the church to get married, but are stopped by a stern-looking woman who declares she won't let them “I won’t let you blemish the sanctity of marriage!”

As the guys are about to haul off on this Kim Davis stand-in, we realize she's talking about the stain on one of their shirts. One quick swipe of the Tide-to-Go pen, though, and the schmutz is gone. (And the woman gives them her blessing.)

“First a clerk in Kentucky, and now a church lady in Los Angeles!" joked Mark Nickelsburg, who directed the ad. "This same sex couple faces yet another obstacle on the way to marriage equality in this spot I directed for Tide to Go.”

Fans of Peewee's Playhouse may recognize Lynne Marie Stewart—a.k.a Miss Yvonne—as the clergywoman.

An earlier inclusive ad by Tide featured a gay male couple bickering about laundry.
