Troye Sivan Helps Fan Come Out As Transgender

The fan cited Sivan as his inspiration for the big moment.

Out pop star Troye Sivan shared a series of screenshots on his Twitter this past week that show how one fan bravely came out as transgender to his father.

The fan, named Evan, originally shared the screenshots on his own Twitter feed along with the message “i just came out to my dad and i think i have the best dad in the world ?? thank u @troyesivan this is because of you.”

“I don’t really know how to say this and I don’t want to beat around the bush…but I’ve known for a while now that I’m transgender,” Evan says in the first message to his father. “You’re my best friend and I felt it was right to tell you who I am.”

Evan’s father responded warmly: “You’ve got my whole support, it’s my job as a dad to love you, and that’s what I’ll do.”

Sivan shared the tweet and it quickly went viral with fans sending an outpouring of love to Evan and his dad.

For his part, Evan was adorably at a loss for words when he found out that his idol had retweeted his story:

This isn’t the first time Sivan has inspired a fan to come out to their family. This past March, the singer helped a young woman come out to her mother as bisexual at his concert in DC.
