Viral Star Brendan Jordan Comes Out As Transgender

"I’m perfectly fine with who I am now."

Brendan Jordan, the prodigal teen who became a viral sensation after posing for filth in the background of a live local news shot in Las Vegas last year, has come out as transgender.

Jordan emerged as a fierce LGBT advocate after amassing an impressive social media following across multiple platforms. Since his serendipitous debut, Jordan's partnered with LGBT YouTubers to create messages that foster positivity and inclusiveness, modeled gender nonconforming digs for an American Apparel campaign, and worked alongside Miley Cyrus' Happy Hippie Foundation to bring awareness to the plight of LGBT youth.

Jordan made the announcement at HRC's Time to Thrive conference this week before introducing trans fashion model Andreja Pejić.

"It's given me a platform to be a voice for a young generation, and allowed me to be connected in a bigger way to a huge community of supporters," he said of his relatively newfound fame. "I'm very lucky and very blessed. I have parents who are very supportive of who I am and me living my truth."

He continued:

"Like most teenagers, I'm still figuring it out. I'm starting to identify as one, or as part, of the trans community. I can't really label it, because, you know, some days, my more feminine side comes out — the 'she.' Some other days I don't feel like putting on my fabulous mask, and the 'he' comes out, and I'm totally OK with that. And I don't know who I am, or where I will be going in the future, who I will be 10 years from now but I'm still a teenager. I just like the limitless feeling of it, and I'm perfectly fine with who I am now. I just identify with both genders, so I go by the pronouns he or she and it's just what I'm happy with."

After, Jordan clarified on Twitter that he identifies most closely with being gender fluid.

And best of all, he continues to brush off haters with his signature dust:

Congrats, Brendan! Live ya life!
