WNBA Star Brittney Griner And Fiancee Glory Johnson Arrested After Domestic Disturbance

The Phoenix Mercury's Brittney Griner, one of the top players in the WNBA, has been arrested on suspicion of assault and disorderly conduct following a fight at the Arizona home she shares with fiancee Glory Johnson.

Johnson, a fellow basketballer with the Tulsa Shock, was also arrested. Steve Swetoha, president of the Shock, said his first concern was "for Glory's well-being and health."

The two 24-year-olds were detained on Wednesday after a fight between them turned physical, according to a spokesperson for the Goodyear, Arizona, police.

With Griner's help, the Mercury won the WNBA championship in September, and she was named the league's Defensive Player of the Year. She and Johnson got engaged last summer and planned a wedding for May.

In 2014, a survey by the National Violence Against Women found that 21.5% of men and 35.4% of women living with a same-sex partner experienced intimate-partner physical violence.
