Cher donated a couture hat that she bought in London, Stevie Nicks gave a autographed tambourine, and one lucky bidder will go home with a pair of Madonna's Prada shoes, signed by the Material Girl.

The event launches tonight at the Stonewall Inn in New York's West Village, with more celebrations in the coming weeks.

In June, President Obama announced Stonewall had been aded to the National Park Service's list of national monuments, the first landmark honored for its connection to the LGBT community.

"I believe our national parks should reflect the full story of our country, the richness and diversity and uniquely American spirit that has always defined us," he said. "That we are stronger together. That out of many, we are one.”
