Darren Criss had nothing but praise for upcoming Glee episodes. This week the club pays tribute to classic Christmas specials in their annual holiday episode, which Criss said were a throwback to the 60s.

“I’m such a sucker for Old Hollywood,” he said Thursday night at the Miss Golden Globe announcement event. “I think a lot of things we make reference to would be over a lot of people’s heads unless you were an adult in the early 60s. It’s a wonderful, nostalgic episode.”

Clips reveal that viewers will be treated to a black-and-white song and dance number from Criss and his on-screen love interest played by Chris Colfer on a set modeled after Judy Garland's classic Christmas Special.  The premise involves the club doing a Christmas Special within the show, and was directed by their co-star Matthew Morrison.

With Christmas in the can, the cast has moved on to the new year and was recently spotted filming “Summer Nights,” from Grease, at the original film’s set.

“We went down to Venice High School where they shot the original Grease,” Criss told NewNowNext. “It was so crazy. It was on an iconic pair of bleachers that is Grease. Hopefully it will look cool!”

Paparazzi photos from the set revealed Criss along with costars Cory Monteith, Mark Saling, Harry Shum Jr and Chord Overstreet singing and dancing, but we’ll have to wait a little longer for any more clarity on the episode’s plot.
