Gigi Goode and Valentina Do a High-Heel Dash in Sam Smith's "I'm Ready"

They're putting the "race" in "Drag Race"!

Gigi Goode and Valentina are used to competing for the title of America's Next Drag Superstar, but in Sam Smith's new video, the RuPaul's Drag Race queens are in a different kind of race entirely.

The fierce video for "I'm Ready," a collaboration with Demi Lovato and the third single off of Smith's upcoming album, imagines what it would be like if the Olympics were a fabulous queer event—including wrestling in heels and running a 100-meter dash with queens.

In addition to the nonbinary Drag Race alums, keep your eyes peeled for Alok, Karis, Shea Diamond, and creative director Jeffrey Williams. Lovato, another queer icon, also makes a cameo, belting from a diving platform and joining Smith in the technicolor queer closing ceremony at the end of the video.

Lovato, who is currently guest-starring on NBC’s Will & Grace, opened up in February about coming out to her parents. “Well, I’m still figuring it out,” she told Andy Cohen when asked about her sexuality. “I didn’t officially tell my parents that I saw myself ending up possibly with a woman, too, until 2017.”

As NewNowNext previously reported, Smith is postponing and rebranding their forthcoming album, originally titled To Die For, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“I have done a lot of thinking the last few weeks and feel that the title of my album and imminent release doesn’t feel right, so I have come to the decision to continue working on the album and make some important changes and additions,” the “How Do You Sleep?” singer wrote last month.

“Don’t worry though, there will be an album this year, I promise,” Smith, who came out as nonbinary last fall, added. “But until then I am still going to bring out some new music over the next few months, which I’m incredibly excited about.”

Smith is among the celebrities participating in Lady Gaga’s One World: Together At Home concert special, which supports the World Health Organization (WHO) in the global fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The televised benefit will be simulcast this Saturday, April 18, on Logo, MTV, VH1, CMT, Comedy Central, Paramount Network, Pop, TVLand, MTV2, and PlutoTV.
