Minnesota made it a clean sweep last night when the state voted down a ballot measure that would have amended their constitution to deny same-sex couples the right to marry. The race was incredibly, INCREDIBLY close, with 51% of voters voting "NO." Thanks guys!

This makes Minnesota the first state to ever strike down language that would deny same-sex couples the right to wed.

While there are of course many to thank for this happening, one person in particular become a very loud, and very unlikely, voice against the amendment -- Minnesota Viking kicker Chris Kluwe.

In the past few weeks Kluwe has spoken everywhere he can against the ballot measure, getting a great deal of flack while he was at it. On the plus side, he is now definitely the second most popular football player among gays. No one is gonna pass Tom Brady obviously.

So go Minnesota! And Maine, Maryland and Washington.
