IN OTHER NEWS

Paul made an increasingly rare appearance on Days Of Our Lives yesterday, posing with Gabi at the Kmart Portrait Studio. Seriously, this was the most low rent professional shoot ever seen.

But we met photographer "Jacob," fleetingly, who asked Paul out, although we didn't see that moment. But we did get lots of Nicole moping around, in mourning for Dan (still?) Move on, honey.

Paul was nervous about being out with a guy, so he asked annoying new supercouple Gabi and JJ to tag along to keep him just nauseated enough that he would have an excuse to leave if he needed to. Apparently the date went well, because Paul was all smiles afterwards. Sadly, I think this was just a one-off, because I haven't heard that Jacob will be returning.

"Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling has plunged headlong into the Oscars’ race controversy, telling French radio today that “perhaps the black actors did not deserve to make the final list” and that the uproar over the lack of black nominees “is racist to whites.”

Three years ago I presented my personal favorite Briefs list, The 100 Greatest Lost Hits of The 80's, and because if there's one thing Hollywood has taught us, it's that sequels and reboots and remakes are ALWAYS better then the original, we're going to the well again with The 100 Greatest Lost Hits of The 80's Part 2: The Even More Forgotten

We'll be spotlighting 100 more of the greatest minor hits of the decade, the songs you don’t hear on any 80’s nostalgia show. Songs that missed the top ten, or top twenty … or top forty. Hopefully these forgotten gems may ring a long dormant bell, or for younger readers, provide a pop music history lesson.

At #22 is "Goldmine" by The Pointer Sisters

The sisters had a huge couple of years in the mid-80's, but it started to slow down by the time their overlooked album Hot Together was released in late '86. The first single, the dance pop nugget "Goldmine," would only reach #33 in November, and would sadly be their final top 40 entry.
